Hi all. Welcome to scottlaird.net!
Wow. the world sure has changed a great deal in the past few weeks. I hope you are all safe, healthy, and practicing social distancing in this unusual and new pandemic environment. Certainly my friends and colleagues around the world are all in my thoughts as this continues.
It seems like yesterday that I had just returned from another fantastic annual American String Teachers Association National Conference in Orlando. I was so pleased to conduct the first-ever ASTA National Conference Teacher Orchestra. It was a huge success. We are hoping to do it again next year! So, mark your calendar for a fun pre-conference session next year.
The NCSSM Orchestra has done a bit of an about face on rehearsals for our annual Concerto Concert this week. Check out my blog for lots of essays on my move to remote teaching. We had planned to perform works by Saint Saens, Bruch, Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart and Ponce on this year's program.
I am waiting t see if to see if the Conn Selmer Institute will still happen this summer from June 7-10. If so, I will be heading up the String Track for the event along with my dear friend and colleague, Jim Palmer.
I continue to post on my blog quite a bit during the crisis. You can find it at Thoughts of a String Educator. You can also follow me as Orchestraguy on Twitter. I am booking appearances into 2022 and I have recently added several new dates to my "Appearances" page.
As always, don't hesitate to contact me if I can help you out in any way.
